It Comes In Waves, 2024
These handmade collages incorporate imagery, illustration & typography, collected from forgotten vintage Life & Fortune magazines found in thrift shops, flea markets and antique malls. They present the viewer with themes & motifs that have been commonplace in American culture for decades and make us ponder nostalgia, repetition in advertising, societal norms and status symbols. Paired with thrifted frames, the material, process and presentation are a nod to the passage of time and the idea of “Now,” questioning similarities and differences from 50-80 years ago until today and beyond.
